Would you like to learn more about Lake Hartwell and the importance of navigational aids to safe boating? If so, you qualify for a free 3-hour boat tour of a section of the lake. The Lake Hartwell Sail & Power Squadron (also known as the Lake Hartwell Boating Club℠) cruises the entire lake three times each year inspecting the navigation aids for the Corps of Engineers, which has jurisdiction over the lake. This work is called cooperative charting, and our reports to the Corps catalog issues such as missing or damaged channel markers or shoal markers, which the Corps undertakes to repair.
LHS&PS has divided the lake into 8 sections, and each section takes about 3 hours to cover. Our inspectors have room for passengers on their boats, and the public is welcome aboard to cruise and learn about the lake and about safe and skillful boat operation.
