The Lake Hartwell Boating Club℠ has received a letter of appreciation and certificate from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for 2017. The Squadron’s contributions to the Cooperative Charting Program on Lake Hartwell during 2017 were the reason for the honor.
Squadron Commander Jim Carroll said, “We appreciate this latest in an annual series of awards by the Corps for our volunteer efforts to help maintain the navigation system on Lake Hartwell. It give us encouragement to continue logging long hours on the water inspecting aids, knowing that our reports are appreciated and acted upon for the benefit of boat operators on the lake.”
The letter, from Kenneth Bedenbaugh, program manager says, “We are grateful for the Lake Hartwell Sail and Power Squadron’s continued emphasis on the importance of water safety at the Hartwell Project. An integral part of this is routing and timely inspection of the Aids to Navigation system. The accuracy and timeliness of your inspection reports make it possible for us to respond to potential safety hazards in a shorter time period to ensure boater safety. Your commitment to water safety and quality service is evident to all.”
